Aspen Santa Fe Ballet presents its Summer Dance Series. Featuring the world renowned Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, as well as MOMIX, Complexions, the Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Babtoto Yetu, dance takes center-stage in Aspen this summer.

Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s first program this summer is an adventurous sampling of choreographers and dance styles. Featuring brand-new work by Spanish choreographer Cayetano Soto and ASFB's newest discovery, Norbert De La Cruz (whose piece Square None had the dance-world buzzing last year), as well as Trey McIntyre’s breezy Like a Samba; this program showcases ASFB’s commitment to innovative new work.

MOMIX - BOTANICA

Back by popular demand, MOMIX’ mesmerizing Botanica is a mysterious, sensual world of flowers and plants. Botanica invites the outdoors in with magnificent props, costumes and stage design and a beautiful score layered with birdsongs and Vivaldi. Moses Pendleton’s company of dancer-illusionists has been celebrated worldwide for their ability to conjure up a universe of surrealistic images using props, light, shadow, humor and the human body. Celebrate the magical beauty of the seasons with MOMIX’ stunning Botanica.

MOMIX returns with a popular Dance for Kids presentation. Featuring a condensed version of the colorful and imaginative piece, Botanica, kids of all ages will delight in the light-hearted and unbelievable movement showcased in this kid-friendly, hour-long matinee performance.

BATOTO YETU AND ASPEN SANTA FE BALLET FOLKLÓRICO

An exciting new cultural exchange program, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet brings together the children of the renowned Harlem-based African dance ensemble Batoto Yetu (Swahili for “Our Children”) with ASFB’s award-winning Folklórico program. With live drummers, a Mariachi band, and brimming with youthful energy; this promises to be an inspiring afternoon of dance celebrating both organization’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage.

ASPEN SANTA FE BALLET - PROGRAM B

For the final performance of the summer, retiring dancer Katie Dehler will be showcased in a program highlighting her exceptional talent, eloquence and artistry. As a muse for many choreographers over the years, Dehler has set the bar for artistic excellence and creativity inherent in Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. Jorma Elo’s Over Glow, a richly choreographed ballet with stunning duets, Nicolo Fonte’s contemplative Where We Left Off and Alejandro Cerrudo’s enigmatic Last will all feature Dehler, emphasizing her inimitable skill as a performer and artist.
