Don't-Miss Fall Activities in Aspen

August 19, 2021
Fun Fall Activities

Fall is a magical time of the year in Aspen, Colorado, and a perfect time to come to for a weekend or week-long escape, without all the summer crowds. Aspen shoulder season deals abound, the weather is beautiful and there is plenty to do! Check out this quick list of fun fall activities to enjoy during your autumn getaway.

TAKE A GUIDED HIKE

Fall colors are typically at their best from mid-September to mid-October, as aspen leaves turn to vibrant shades of gold and cooler temperatures make hitting the trails a breeze. For a memorable and educational take on this fall favorite activity, consider hiring a Naturalist to guide you on your journey. The Aspen Center for Environmental Studies can provide Naturalists guides for a fee. Customize anything from a family-friendly adventure exploring at the ecology-rich Hallam Lake, to a challenging full day hike on the beloved American Lake Trail or Lost Man Loop. All of the destinations offer a unique look at Aspen’s incredible plant and wildlife diversity with educational information from one of ACES’ expert local guides. Learn More

BIKE MAROON CREEK TRAIL

One of the most iconic road rides in Colorado, the Maroon Creek Trail offers stunning views of Aspen’s famous Maroon Bells. The access road to this popular scenic area is closed to motor vehicles, and the public bus service that runs through the summer comes to an end in mid-October. This means that cyclists can enjoy having the road all to themselves from mid-October on (as long as weather permits). Prime leaf season often lingers for a few more weeks, complemented by an early-season dusting of snow along the peaks. A perfect autumn biking experience with colorful views awaits on this classic Aspen ride! Learn More

TAKE IN A SHOW AT BELLY UP ASPEN

Belly Up Aspen is well known both in the local music scene and beyond. This intimate venue brings in incredible talent all year, notwithstanding the shoulder seasons! Look forward to amazing live music from concert greats such as Jamestown Revival (September 18), Dispatch (October 23), or Evan Giia (November 11). Multiple concerts populate the Belly Up's jam-packed live music calendar this fall! Learn More
