Springtime in Aspen

Spring Events in Aspen

While recent snowfall seems to tell a different story, the clock is indeed ticking on winter. In fact, the first day of spring is just one month away and we’re willing to bet there are still boxes to check on your winter to-do list.

Fortunately, here in Aspen, winter is measured by the running of the ski lifts, and not by the spring equinox. So, hurry on up to Aspen and make the most of the remainder of the winter 2019-2020 ski season before the clock runs out on April 19! Here’s a look at what we’re most excited about this spring in Aspen:

Extended Lift Hours

As the days get longer, so does the skiing! In the spring, select lifts at all four Aspen Snowmass mountains extend their hours to 4pm so you have more time to enjoy the sunny slopes.

Film Festivals

The Aspen Mountain Filmfestival comes to the Wheeler Opera House February 28th and 29th, with a special a mid-winter event focusing on adventure film. Then, starting on March 31st, the 29th Annual Aspen Shortsfest, named one of 50 film festivals worth the entry fee by Moviemaker Magazine, returns Aspen.

Free Music

Does anything mark the arrival of spring better than free outdoor concerts? The always anticipated Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert Series returns this spring with three free outdoor concerts!

Aspen Words

The 23rd Annual Winter Words series features writers at the height of their careers. On March 11th, head to Paepcke Auditorium from 6-7pm to see Dennis Lahane, the Internationally Best-selling Author of "Mystic River," "Gone, Baby, Gone" and "Shutter Island".

Indoor Music

Belly Up Aspen is well known as one of the things that truly makes Aspen Aspen. It seems like every winter, they manage to kick it up yet another notch, and this spring is no exception. Don’t miss performances by Donavan Frankenreiter, Stephen Marley, moe., Chromeo, Lukas Nelson, STS9, Big Gigantic and more.

Closing Day Parties

Nothing screams spring in Aspen quite like bacon, a freezing cold pond, hilarious outfits, and gigantic parties. If you’re looking for a way to celebrate the end of the ski season, look no further. At Aspen Snowmass, we don’t just have one celebration, we have four. Start with Bacon Day at Buttermilk on April 5th, then head over to Aspen Highlands on April 12th for the biggest bash of the season. If the excitement at Aspen Highlands wasn’t enough for you, head to Snowmass Ski Area on April 18th for the annual Surf & Snow Beach Party at Elk Camp. Close out the season here at Aspen Mountain on April 19th with parties at the Sundeck and Ajax Tavern.
