The Winter 2019/2020 lineup of events at the Wheeler Opera House includes concerts by Colorado's own Yonder Mountain String Band, the Aspen Choral Society's 42nd annual performance of Handel's Messiah, comedy events featuring Saturday Night Live's Alex Moffat and Mikey Day, and the return of the Acrobats of Cirque-Tacular! 40th Annual Aspen Filmfest, September 23-29, 2019
Aspen Film's flagship event is a noncompetitive festival showcasing narrative and documentary features, a dynamic mix of award-worthy fall previews, and acclaimed independent films from the international festival circuit. Benefiting the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club’s 2,300-plus athletes — as well as its scholarships and programs — the Audi Ajax Cup features head-to-head slalom races on the storied run of Little Nell at Aspen Mountain. The annual Winter X Games is the premier winter action sports event in the world, featuring athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prize money in the sports of Ski, Snowboard and Snowmobile. Winter X Games Aspen will feature nighttime events and will be telecast live on ESPN.
The Owl Creek Chase, February 9, 2020
The Owl Creek Chase has been one of Colorado's largest and most premier cross-country ski races since 1985. The challenging course from Snowmass Village to Aspen presents the very best that Colorado skiing has to offer; tough climbs, scenic views, thrilling descents and excellent snow conditions.
Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open, February 13-15, 2020
The Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open at Buttermilk, is one of the last and longest running independent open competitions in the nation. It opens up the X Games Aspen Slopestyle and Superpipe and Big Air courses to amateur and professional level athletes. Last year, the open drew around 200 competitors from six nations to test their skills!
Aspen Laugh Festival, February 18-28, 2020
After countless years as the featured site for the HBO/U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, and three years as the co-producer and home of the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival, the Wheeler stepped up in 2011 to present its own unique four-day comedy experience, where comics got to do what comics do best: Everything funny. Come ski all day and laugh all night as Aspen presents the most brilliant new voices in comedy in a variety of stand-up and improv events.

Audi Power of Four Ski Mountaineering Race, February 29, 2020
The Audi Power of Four Race Series is a premier endurance race series utilizing the unique and amazing terrain of each of the four Aspen Snowmass mountains. Each race is designed to test the limits and skills of both elite and recreational athletes. The Power of Four Sport Division has a 6:00 AM race start in Snowmass Base Village. The Power of Two Rec Division begins at 8:00 AM at the base of Aspen Highlands.
Colorado Junior Freeride, March 8, 2020
Catch the excitement as big mountain skiers ages 12 to 18 years tackle a challenging course in the Highland Bowl at Aspen Highlands. The competition is an IFSA-sanctioned junior regional and part of the Rocky Mountain Freeride Series.
Bud Light Spring Jam, March 20 - 27, 2020
Aspen's premier spring festival in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, with new-school competitions, downtown concerts and parties. Events also include Bud Light Hi-Fi Concerts, The Banked Slalom snowboard race, and Terrain Park Boot Camps.
NASTAR National Championships, March 24-28, 2020
Aspen Snowmass is proud to be selected to host the NASTAR Nationals for the 2020 and 2021 winter seasons. The first NASTAR National Championship was held in the Spider Sabich race arena on Snowmass in the spring of 1998 and we're excited to bring the National Championship back to Snowmass.
Elk Mountain Grand Traverse, March 27-29, 2020
Nearly 200 racers will being their journey tackling the 40-mile course that starts at 9,000 feet in Crested Butte, takes skiers through Mt. Crested Butte Ski Resort. The race is scheduled to start at midnight on Friday which allows entrantsto reach Star Pass (12,303 ft) before the warmth of the day increases the likelihood of avalanches. The remote route continues through the Elk Mountains and over one more mountain pass before finishing at the base of the Aspen Mountain.
U.S. Alpine Tech Championships, March 28-31, 2020
After 60 years the U.S Alpine Tech Championships will return to Aspen Snowmass! Aspen Highlands and Snowmass are set to host this elite race with some of the best U.S. Ski Team athletes.
