Fall in Aspen is really something special. As the temperature begins to drop, the crowds begin to leave, and the quaking aspen trees change from a brilliant green to saturated golds and oranges, local cyclists know that there is no better time for biking in Aspen. With everything from technical singletrack to breathtaking scenic paved rides, options abound for every two-wheeled enthusiast. Grab a light jacket and head out on some of our favorite picturesque trails before the snow starts to fly!

1. Hunter Creek

This loop ride tops our list for fall rides with its combination of new singletrack, historic mining roads and stunning views of downtown Aspen and surrounding mountain peaks.

2. Sky Mountain Park

Offering unparalleled views of Aspen, Snowmass and the lower Roaring Fork Valley this popular flowy trail network is a must-ride while in Aspen Snowmass.

3. Government Trail

One of the more challenging trails in the area, Government Trail winds across both Buttermilk and Snowmass ski areas through aspen groves and fir forests.

4. Maroon Creek Road

This 10-mile road ride rewards cyclists with views of Pyramid Peak, the iconic Maroon Bells and Maroon Lake. Surrounded by golden aspen groves and capped with snow, the Maroon Bells are picture perfect in the fall.
